I am new to this forum. I have been playing the GAME for a while and I find I do not believe the times that are turned in for extreme puzzles. If indeed the times posted are valid (as in no pauses or other cheats) then I apologize to those brainiacs and advise them to seek employment in the rocket science sector. Personally I would like to see the administrators post an extreme game once a day at a given time and let all players attack said game at the same time and then see who can post the earliest solution and susequent times.

I average around 7-8 mins on extreme, though a handful of puzzles might manage to get me close or above the 10 minute mark

My personal best is 3:25, I posted a 3:50 today and all of my "top scores" are under 5 minutes. I'm lucky if I post a sub-5 or sub-4 minute puzzle 1 in every 50, but it happens. Sometimes I can recognize a really tricky solution early on that makes solving the whole board easy. After doing a lot of sudoku puzzles in my day, I have a pretty good indication of where on the puzzle I'll be able to find the next solution so that greatly reduces the 'thinking time'.

This is playing on a touch-screen android phone, I know the game pauses so it's easy to cheat but I never have... I've already made it on the top score list a bunch of times, no reason I'd want to cheat to get back there for a day.

I only played 10 or so games because I dislike extreme but I got 14 minutes one time thinking I was playing on hard and it turned out to be extreme. Some times I'll have like all but 10-15 squares solved in the first 3 minutes. Then I'll just sit and stare for 20 minutes. Get's very boring so I avoid extreme.

My personal best is 2:39. But sometimes i need over 20 minutes. it depends on many circumstances. Like noise around you or your level of stress. Sleeplessness also does not favor concentration.

2-3 minutes is amazing. I don't understand how you can solve the extreme puzzle so fast!

My best is 6:20 but sometimes I solve for an hour or so, especially if it's one of those puzzles where you need to use the 50-50 option, i.e. there is no way to find a cell with only 1 possible option, so you have to guess and try 1 of 2 possible numbers, if you pick the wrong one then try the other number.
So, it really depends on your luck as the difficulty varies considerably in those extreme sudokus.
And once again I have solved similar level sudoku (though the 50-50 ones are very rare) much faster on my laptop and my best result is 3:10.

I started this game a couple of months ago. My first attempts were in the 10+ minutes range. Then I used the "digit first", as well as other display settings. Times went down to 5 minutes or less, but still above 4. I thought 3 minutes was very difficult. I did today twice under 3 minutes, with my new record at 2:40. So it seems to me that practice is all that you need: I am exactly the same person as two weeks ago, but now I always reach the top 100 score, whereas I rarely did then. I will certainly get tired of this game, the leaderboard will roll, you will join it, and then move on.
