I've only been playing a couple of weeks and my 2 best scores (for Easy) are in the low 4 minute range (4:08 and 4:20 I believe).

My goal is to get under 4 minutes.

My best two scores are 3:10 and today 2:50. Those 1:24 times are impossible. My fingers are kind of big and clumsy but I have managed 2:50.

I feel depressed. I've been doing this for two weeks and my fastest is 10 minutes - and when I submitted by results I was told I was better than 4% of the population... aka worse than 96% ...! Please could someone tell me the 'secret'...

I don't know why you guys blame people for cheating. Until today, when I read these posts for the first time, I didn't know that it was possible to cheat in this game. I've been playing here for a few months and my best time on easy is 1:20. That's a very real score. I consistently score in the 1:50's and all of my ten best are under 1:33. I am by no means the greatest sudoku player of all time, so I do believe that *MOST* of the times are true... you guys should stop being upset that you aren't making the leader boards and use them as motivation to get better... it makes this game much more enjoyable if you do.

how typical of a person to discredit others because their scores are better. my best time in easy mode is 1:05 and my top 10 times are all around 1:10-1:20. i'm not trying to gloat because i know their are tons of players that are quicker than me, but i just want to clarify just because these times seem fast to you doesn't mean players are cheating.

Guys, the times listed on the site are the best times for the day from around the world. Just because you can't break 4 minutes on easy doesn't mean I can't. A sub 2-minute time might be impossible FOR YOU, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. I've never cheated and my top ten easy times are all under 1:30, my top ten medium times are all under 2:00, and I'm working on getting all of my hard times under 3:00 (will get to Extreme after that). But if you want to believe that the times on the leaderboard are all fake, be my guest. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

What are people considering "cheating"? Taking a picture of the board, pausing it, and then entering the numbers by hand? Solving it via a bot? Or using the 'helper' functions like checking if the board is valid? The first two are obviously cheating, but one could make an argument the third is no.
I'm somewhat skeptical of extreme scores at a minute or less, though I suppose there are some people out there who have way too much time on their hands and don't mind permanently disfiguring their hands by typing that fast on a tiny phone. I did solve a minesweeper game in under 4 seconds once (ok, it was kinda luck). Usually though I'm just playing this while watching TV, and then only submitting my score if I did well. I would guess a lot of others are in the same position, which would explain why the percentiles are off. People are more likely to submit their 8 minute extreme win than their 30 minute extreme win.

Not sure I could do a sub 1minute solution, but then I think they're possible...for easy that is.

My top 10 times are between 1.27 and 1.34 and they don't feel particularly fast, so to go two-thirds of that shouldn't be too difficult...

got 1:50 on easy 97-98%(cant remember)
2:48 on medium. 98%
6:something on hard 85%+ (not sure)
14: something on extreme. 30%+( not sure)
I play on easy about 60% of the time. Hard 30%. Medium 7% and extreme about 3%. Not quite sure though. If I'm in the zone I can usually get 5-6 consecutive times under 2:10.The only thing I can improve on easy is my screen since I'm entering them in almost as I see it but I can't click precisely.On medium my best time is about a minute above the rest of my times and on hard its like 1:30. My usual times on extreme are about an hour. I normally get too frustrated with them to finish.

My best time on easy is 1:50, and my best time on medium is 2:06. I suspect that my limitation is my fat fingers on the touchscreen. I would not be surprised if there were legitimate times for easy in the sub-1:00 space, but I doubt I'll ever be able to get there.

My best times have been going down. 1:45-1:55 is all my top 10. Every week it changes. Just a month ago I thought 4:00 was blazing but I get that when I'm groggy in the morning. I noticed I'm faster when I'm listening to music although I haven't done so in a while which probably explains why I haven't been beating my best times. on medium its like 2:30 but I rarely play.

Are you telling me that the person with the best time of 00:00.0 is a valid time? There is no way in hell (or heaven) that those times under 2 or 3 minutes are valid. a cheater would never admit that they cheated so I will believe it wen I see it!

I am sorry, but it is not possible to complete a puzzle in 1 second, bot to mention there are several that were completed in the 30 second range. Even if you memorize all of the possible puzzle combinations, the average number of blank squares is 58 on easy, that would be an average of 116 key presses, with no fat finger mistakes, and there were several scores in the 30 second range. That would be an average of 4 key presses a second. Come on now.

I agree that that there is a bunch of cheating going on, but I am not sure which difficulty you are referring to, may average on easy is 1:45 and I do not cheat. Why even bother downloading the game, much less playing, if you are going to cheat.

I got 1:52 on the competition this week. Every time that is ahead of mine i'm thinking is legit. Sometimes its easy to get in the zone when you're doing a competition. My top time ever on easy is only 1:32.

Maybe there are a few super-beings who can genuinely get under a minute, but anything significantly less than that has to be suspect - simply because of the time it takes to enter the numbers. The current leaderboard has 3 seconds as the quickest time for easy, which is clearly utter bull. I would be embarrassed to have such an obvious lie posted to my name (thedapperlass - does that really make you feel good?). I got under 3 minutes once, and I was happy all day!

How fast can you make 116 presses when you read them from a piece of paper? and how fast can you make 116 presses while solving the puzzle? The two minute mark is roughly one per second...

I'm slow because I haven't played in a while: Easy 6:36.

Here's cheating: If you root your Andriod device, you can manipulate numbers using a program similar to CheatEngine. CheatEngine is used in Windows to edit numeric values in Adobe Flash games. CheatEngine has several techniques to find values by several techniques, then change them.

It also has the ability to slow down the system clock.

I think the only way to really measure speeds are to force a system date/time update from the server at the start and when solved. Include that info and display an asterisk (*) if the time is questionable, and exclude those times when reporting better than %.

My best is 43 seconds, not impossible, you just need a perfect grid to start and then enter the numbers flawlessly and fast. If you can't get a whole set of 1 number within the first 5 seconds, then the grid isn't good enough. Of course, you do need a huge amount of practice too.

My personal best on the easy puzzles is 55 seconds. I didn't know you could cheat and I would not do it. Seems counterproductive f you are really trying to test yourself. Have noticed that I am much faster playing on my tablet vs. phone. Much bigger keypad!

2:07 on easy. Thanks for keeping it real. I came to this thread after seeing someone post a :01 on the "hard" competition today. What artificial joy does one receive out of cheating like that? My time this morning was 14:09, ranking me in the low 7 hundreds among the combination legitimate and cheaters' scores. My best "hard" time is 6:07 and my best "extreme" time is 15:13.

Just got my first 60 second solution. Am only on here because it said I'd made top 100 so I checked that then this was at the top of the forums so I peeked. Witha clear head I probably average in the 1:30-2:00 range, and if I'm tired or not able to focus I'll be up in the 3 or 4 minute range. longer than that and I usually switch to a different puzzle.

My best time so far is [b]2:12[/b] (using on-screen keyboard & cell first input option) but I'm not that fast on my fairly small smart phone touchscreen (3"), otherwise would probably be considerably faster. For example my best time in a similar easy level sudoku on my laptop is 1:07 (using numpad).

I switched to "digit first" a while back, and my times started dropping like a rock. The way I now play, there are many fewer touches required to complete any given puzzle. My best easy time is now just over 40 seconds.

I'd like to know the algorithm they use to determine the difficulty level. There are several Easy puzzles that I can tear through in less than a minute, but there are some other I encounter that take me over 4 minutes to solve. This can be a very frustrating experience, as my slowest top-10 time for Extreme on my phone is around 2:40 (and the best is under 2 minutes). Of course, to get the good Extreme times I am using the "notes" feature -- something I never use on Easy, and only on Mediums when there is a competition.

Back to the cheating thing -- I can now believe that there are people out there capable of solving an Easy puzzle in less than 30 seconds. I do not see how it would be possible to even touch the screen fast enough to solve any puzzle in 20 seconds or less. The single-digit times that you occasionally see are absolutely cheats.

I just looked at the top-100 times for today. In the Easy category, I see times from :34 to :57 (I'm at position #86 with a time of :53!). Based on my experience, I can believe all of these times. If there is anyone cheating in the Easy category, then their cheating system sucks, or they want the times to blend in. The other categories seem in order as well. In fact, my personal top-10 times for each category would all be top-100 daily times today (though I would only crack the top 10 of those in a couple of cases). It has been a while since I have seen a time that I would consider to be a cheat posted to the Genina boards.

Totally possibly. My fastest is 1:30, and I rarely play easy. Working with your fingers to get them to go fast enough, as well as becoming second nature to use the program, then it is mostly just about how fast you can solve them, and if you pick the right starting number(or box or column or row, however you solve) it can go incredibly fast.

I have always been suspicious of the sub 1 minute times. I know that it wouldn't be hard to take a screen shot and pause the game so I could do the game off line and then just enter the numbers.

I don't pay much attention to those times since I know I will never be that fast. I pay attention to the better than percentage that I get on submitting. If I can get all four levels better than 50%, then I ma having a great day.

My best time on Easy is 1:30 and my top 10 list is all under 2:15.

My other personal daily goal is simply to get all for levels done in under 10 minutes each. That happens about once a week.

My fastest time on easy (it was an easy+, but for some reason, the game does not register that- I wonder why?) was 2:19. My fiance can get under 2 minutes- all his top ten times are under 2 minutes. I believe that with just the right puzzle, I could get under 2 minutes, but all I seem to get lately are easys that are NOT AT ALL easys- how come the game does that? I find that the longer I play at easy level, the harder the puzzles get. I think it is ridiculous to call a puzzle "easy" when one number is missing completely, and two other numbers are only on the board once.♥

I play a a few hours a day (cumulatively), only ever in the EASY category, and it comes down to three main elements: skill, luck, and nimbleness (which includes patience not to fumble).

My top score is 49 seconds, and I must certainly have not cheated. One thing that has made all the difference for me is switching the setting to "cell first". That way you don't have to select a number for each hit. Ever since doing that, I've shaved considerable time off my scores!

My top time on easy is 0:53, and I always play easy with "number first", because, when you start with a number, you can often quickly find all nine of them.
Average 1:56 (that's the one I currently play most), and hard on 11:35.

My top time on easy is :33 (in the leaderboard now) and all my top 10 are below :37. I don't ever cheat or understand really how one even could for easy mode. I play number-first which is an absolute necessity for a fast time and with what I think are the default settings (highlights all of the cells with the number you have selected). It's a bit frustrating that some people dismiss these times as cheating just because they can't do it themselves. Maybe I'll film it, if that would help.

My best time on easy was about 6 months ago. 53 seconds. On the tablet, not the phone. The bigger screen makes a difference. I saw a YouTube video of a girl who solved in about 30 seconds. She used both hands to enter answers. I can't do that, but I believe it's possible. My average is probably about 2 minutes, maybe a little more. When I'm in the zone, I get times around 70 seconds. That's a lot better than I used to be.

1:00 in April 14 this year. I solve at least 10 puzzles per day, many under 2:00, but the time may go up to almost 20:00; i.e., the algorithm to create a new one seams to be rather weird: Easy is sometimes Extreme. Why is this?
In addition:
The times submitted here in statistics (many far below 1:00) seem to cheat somehow.

All Easy's are not the same regardless of the number of pre-populated numbers - there are different patterns of distribution that make some "easy" games "extremely easy" if you know the pattern - I am not good by any means and my best is 1:37 for an "easy - easy". If I get a pattern I'm not familiar with a "harder easy" can also take me 3+ minutes - the patterns seem to come in clusters so when i do get an easy-easy i know that several more will follow closely.

Can't speak for the legitimacy of any other times but my PRs (personal records) are:

Easy - 54 seconds
Medium - 2 minutes 6 seconds
Hard - 2 minutes 32 seconds
Extreme - 4 minutes 30 seconds

If a time is down into the 10 - 25 second range, then yeah, I would certainly call foul on that because it would take that long to input the answers if you were staring at the answer sheet and simply inputting the numbers as quickly as possible.

But having done an Easy in 54 seconds, it's certainly not unfathomable for me to imagine someone going low 40s.

my settings are: digit-first, and highlight existing numbers. that way, it's a visual cue to identify where missing numbers should be placed

These are all solved without using the helper.

On a side note, are the top times listed by Genina hacked or cheated? I can’t fathom how someone could solve them so fast. My easy time is already 8 seconds higher than the world record. There’s no way someone beat the record by over a minute.

Practice will only help. In the beginning, when I started playing, I had 6 minutes. Now I manage to do everything up to 2 minutes. Minimum time 1 minute 22 seconds

Been playing for years. Tend to average above 50% on all levels otherwise I would probably not enjoy playing as much as I do. Top 10 easy times are from 1:04 to 1:09.

My best time on Easy is :54, and my top 10 range is :54-1:05. I would consider myself more advanced, and I mostly just stick to the hard level puzzles, where my top 10 ranges from 1:46-2:04. I figured the top handful of fastest times were cheats, but I figured if I was hitting sub 1 minute on Easy, that at least some of them are valid in that range by the fact that I know there are plenty of people better than me at Sudoku. It is one of the funnest games for me, and one of the only games I will even play on my phone. I would say don't be discouraged by the comparison to other people, that doesn't ever make anyone happy because someone is always better. Just compare yourself to yourself from yesterday, that's the only game you can actually win.

Just hit 39 seconds yesterday. That was my fastest ever I believe. I've played this game on and off for over a dozen years across multiple phones with at least 3 2+year gaps between playing. During the past 2 years I probably played seriously 10 days out of the year which were days I was flying by myself. On my current phone I believe my 10th fastest time is 46 seconds.

All my top 10 scores are under 1 minute. #10 was 56s on 21-12-2023, and #1 through #4 is 51s all in the last month, except one which was the day before #10.

Not sure what constitutes 'valid', but the settings I use include "show crosshairs", "Highlight: Both", "Highlight Initial" and "Flag Conflicting Values".

Typically the Flag setting has no bearing on my top scores, because if I miss click I rarely break one minute.

I find my score depends most on luck of which puzzle I am presented with, and which digit I start on. E74, the competition puzzle at this time, I scored a 51s time. This was due to the flow of the puzzle and starting on a good digit, and the ones that came after being able to complete them in the puzzle on the first time through the digits.

If I didn't use the crosshairs setting, I know I would definitely not put up such quick times, however, if I played without it I'm sure I could adjust and get back into the 1 minute range.

I typically finish puzzles in under 90s, but occasionally will have puzzles go above 3 minutes, either due to distraction, being tired, or again luck of some 'easy' puzzles being more difficult than others.

I can do extreme puzzles with the same settings in under 3 minutes.
