Just did 4:55. Chuffed. Got 5:02 a few months ago after typically getting closer to 6 minutes for a long time. That made me realise a sub-5 minute time was a possibility.

Not sure of any rules that everyone follows for a score to be considered "legitimate", but for my 4:55, I played straight through without pausing. I always have the thing turned on that tells you you've made an error, and if I do enter a wrong number, I abort that game. For myself, I only regard my games where I play clean through with no errors as legitimate. I do allow games that I've paused (phone call, doorbell, etc), but I'd only be cheating myself if I cheated - not really interested in any competitions or scoreboards.

I find the extreme times of around or below 4 minutes difficult to believe, but TBH a year ago, I'd have considered a sub 5 minute time unlikely for myself, so I'll keep an open mind.

Happy new year y'all.
I'm 44 and play for fun - I'm not a kid who has any innate need to impress anyone, even myself (ego diminishes with age). Pausing a game, figuring it out offline, then inserting the numbers as fast as I can, and claiming an amazing completion time has no appeal for me. No personal integrity in that.

I've been playing genina sudoku for maybe 2-2.5 years, and uploaded my times for the first time today. Stunned when I checked the score boards. Till I realised that the top times must all (or mostly) be cheats.

I'm no genius, I'm not academically educated, but I'd consider myself reasonably smart.

My genuine best times are:

EASY: 24 May 2013, 02:24
MEDIUM: 28 May 2012, 03:49
HARD: 4 May 2012, 05:01
EXTREME: 6 Mar 2013, 05:25

I do use the pause function, and wouldn't like to see it removed - I value being able to give my attention or focus to something else, and still be able to come back to the same game. I certainly value that more than I value being able to trust other people's ego-massaging claims of top times.

I had hoped to see how I compared with other players, out of curiosity (again, I have no need to impress anyone). I'm pretty happy with my best EXTREME time in relation to my historical EXTREME times. When I started, I was getting over 30-40 minutes on EXTREME. First time I got sub-10 minutes felt great.

I've no doubt that there are thousands of faster genuine times than I've scored, but if we need to measure ourselves against others (and cheat to win), I see no value in competition. While I'm curious as to how I compare to other's, I value measuring my own times against my own best times, not anyone else's.

It's just a game...
