if you take a picture of your phone's screen (or write down the puzzle layout) and either open a square or go to your homescreen, the timer stops and you can complete the puzzle using another source, go back, and have an amazing time that you didn't earn. Defeats the purpose no?

Well there is no real way around that. The timer stops so that a person can come back to play later if they have a phone call or something and they won't lose time. If a person actually wants to test themselves, they will play honestly. Competition mode isn't finalized yet so we're still working on it. If you have suggestions, we'd love to hear them. We're always open to suggestions. You can email them to us directly at sudoku@genina.com

The only solution is to disallow pauses. Like a road race, once you start you can't stop.

Of course some diabolical person may figure out a way to rapidly type in the puzzle on another computer and get a fast solution--but then, where's the fun?

I absolutely love this game and the version that Genina has created.

This is the first time I have looked at the uploaded times and was very dissapointed. From my perspective, the people who trick the system and work around the timer are just poor sports. They are not proving anything and who knows what there times really are. My wish is that they would play fair and it could be more ful for all of us. I would really like to know what a "normal" score is and see how I am doing in comparison. Unfortunately, I don't see myself uploading scores at all because it has no meaning.

I still love this game and will keep playing and playing.

Yeah, my best score on "Extreme" is about 8 minutes, and I frankly can't see how someone can get it done in 4 minutes. It's almost not physically possible. OK, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to sudoku, but I can tell when everything's going my way and I'm pretty much just filling in the squares as fast as I can count them. There's a certain minimum time that it's just hard to beat. I notice one individual dominates the 4-minute range, and having played this version many times I am fairly sure they could not be that successful without cheating.

They are welcome to come on the forum and explain themselves. My guess is, at a minimum they are re-starting the game many times until they find an easy one--the extreme games are variable and some are almost impossible to solve while others are almost too easy.

We are aware of the iOS4 issues and we're working on resolving them as soon as possible. Please be patient while we get it fixed.

I think your girlfriend is cheating. Show it on YouTube for proof. I can't imagine a real manual solution in faster than 2 minutes.that's less than 2 seconds per square. Just manipulating the UI would take 1 second per cell...

I didnt say 2 minutes, I sad 5, and I watched her do it, not all of her games where 5 sec, but that was her best score.
sry, till now we did think that cheating was possible.
and anyway it not warth the truble..

My fastest is 3:30. A 5 second game would be selecting a number for a cell about every 0.1 seconds. Is your girlfriend a robot???

I'm pretty sure Yaakov means 5 minutes, not 5 seconds.

My best extreme score is 8 mins. and a few secs. I will say, playing many games a day (don't tell my boss) has made me a better sudoku player, not faster but just better. I guess I'll work on speed now ....

Agree. As long as you're allowing score uploading (which I would appreciate if it gave meaningful information/feedback), and until you've finished the competition mode feature, this looks like the only correct implementation of the features you've got. If someone wants to pause, they'll just have to do without a competitive score. Nothing wrong with that.

Hello,

My best extreme score is 07mn21s.
