I was also disappointed to see these 1.5 minute scores for medium. My best score was something like 4'50 for a medium level. Of course, as anyone , I have a program to solve sudokus but, except for the pleasure to anoy everyone, I don't see the point to use it here. There would be a solution to avoid this: 1) propose a race mode where you never stop the timer + 2) check that every move during the game was 'logic', ie, can be explained by grid content, but of course, this is a little tricky to program...

My best medium time is 6.30. I never though of cheating so you can imagine my shock when I went online to check the top scores. I felt like a dum

My best Extreme time is 5 minutes on the nose. Hard is at 3 minutes, Medium is 2:23, and Easy is 1:47. It is doable.

Well, I was dissapointed too when I saw the top scores online. I did Extreme level in 10:57, and I have to say that you really great if you can do it in 5 minutes. Amazing I was happy of my time, because some of my friends can even solve the puzzle on this level. I'm going to play it again to beat my time.
I have to say that Sudoku by Genina is the best Sudoku application I've ever seen.

Gday - first post for me lol.

Got a "real" 4:02 this morning on extreme. It can be done.

I refuse to use any timer exploit on principle - what's the point of cheating if you're only challenger is yourself?

Oh yeah, that was only a few hours ago. Quick question for the mods / developers: my phone said I got a top 10 score (woohoo), but it isn't there on the leaderboard. Is there a lag before displaying the scores?

There's also some bug on Droid's that causes the timer to stop. I tend to leave my phone on for days at a time, which makes all of the apps behave a little funky after awhile, and if I remember events correctly, I took a call in the middle of a game. When I came back, the timer had frozen. I believe the next game, without a reboot, the timer was working again.

My best extreme score is 4:14 and I didn't even realize that people could cheat at this game... true, there is a big difference between the difficulty levels of many of the extreme level games, but I consistently get 6:00 times. Same thing with the hard difficulty: I usually get 5:00's but today I got a 2:59.. I guess there is a lot of cheating going on here and that's untortunate, but it is very possible to make the top 25 legitimately, because I do usually once a day or so. Just wanted to let you guys know that not everybody's a cheater... you can get faster times

My times on extreme jumped from better than 1% to routinely in the (low) two digits shortly after reading this thread and I posted to it. I have no delusions of grandeur. On the other hand, I can believe that concurrently changes were made on recording times. That any times averaging to 10 key strokes per second must be wrong. Whether this is a change to the app, or the database that records them, I don't know. I have no desire to reach the top 10% of times, but when I solve an extreme, and I still have trouble with them, its nice to know where I legitimately stand.

Hi
the best way to combat the possible cheaters is to put a letter 'P' standing for 'paused' in front of their time.

Have you ever seen a master mathematician at work - ever watched and old Chinese person using an abacus? Is it not possible that a person could legitimately be that good? To say it's not possible is not acknowledging mankind's ability. And to say it's not possible sounds like a case of "spoiled child" or disillusioned adult to me. I have not achieved scores even close to these top scores, but I am certainly happy to see my level of improvement. I'm just here to remind you that the truth may be somewhere between. Yes there are real talented people in this area and of course there are cheaters. Aren't they everywhere in every walk of life? Compete with yourself. I am amazed. I think Sudoku is teaching me many life lessons that seem applicable to me - don't jump to conclusions - don't rush- double check - look at the next logical path - patterns I have developed over time in other areas of life which usually have had less than favorable outcomes are now coming to my attention in the form of a little game..
Thanks for listening

I am new to this forum. I have been playing the GAME for a while and I find I do not believe the times that are turned in for extreme puzzles (1min 28 seconds; (who the _ _ _ _ do you think your kidding.) If indeed some of those virtually impossible times posted are valid (as in no pauses or other cheats) then I apologize to those brainiacs and advise them to seek employment in the rocket science sector. Personally I would like to see the administrators post an extreme game once a day at a given time and let all players attack said game at the same time and then see who can post the earliest solution and subsequent times.
I entered the above post in the ???What???s your time for extreme category??? .However I believe it is applicable to all catagories. For the record ???..my personal best for Extreme is 3 min 02secs. My worst is 18 min. 26 seconds. Let me say at this point I sometimes cheat.

Even if we accepted that there times around 1 minute are possible - I would say they are, but the people who can do that are rare - there's a score today of 6 seconds (that's not a type, I don't mean minutes) on easy.

It is just not possible to read the gameboard and have made any real start by then, let alone complete the puzzle.

Should the developers not ban this person, and others who are clear cheats? It's difficult to draw the line (25 seconds? 1 min 30 on extreme?) but 6 seconds is extracting the proverbial.

I would say remove the pause feature from the program. The world won't end if somebody has to quit a puzzle. They could leave the site and resume with a new puzzle on return. Those Geniuses that solve a puzzle in six seconds do not need to avail themselves of the pause feature. In addition, if a puzzle is requested by number instead of at random I woulld not accept that time as valid. Perhaps a little harsh here but why discourage newbies with impossible target times?

I just scored 1 second. There is a bug which causes the timer to randomly stop. I'm running on the Samsung Captivate and didn't notice until after upgrading to Froyo. I'm hoping an update can fix this bug.

As far as pausing goes, they shouldn't be entered into the uploaded scores. But you'll still have the problem of people using google googles to auto solve the puzzle in seconds. Then it's just a matter of typing it in.
